Well, don't let it be said that Team Rockwood is afraid of experimentation, because we have no idea if this thing is going to fly or not. So...welcome to Haiku Thursday! The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself, because we're too busy writing comics and watching TV. That said, let's get some ground rules out of the way...

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere. Don't use Haiku Thursday just to vent your angry poetry...unless it's really good, that is, in which case, vent away!

So, let's get started!

Haiku number one comes to us from Tionda, who goes straight for the "sucking up" option. Is that bad? Well, she is first, isn't she?

Hey, you want my haiku? Here goes...

Rockwood is the best
Best of the best of the best
Nothing is better!

Hope enough people write in!

--Tionda

Haiku number two takes a not-so-subtle dig at Team Rockwood for its failure to actually provide a link under the "Promote" link that's on every page. Don't worry Haiku Tom, it's just around the corner. This time for sure!

Rockwood recedes back
to its comic infancy,
failing to promote.

-Haiku Tom

Finally, haiku number three references this week's Mailbag page while making its point.

Well, if the lunchy Lorna is the one I'm thinking of (probably is cause I showed her Rockwood on the very same day) she's complaining cause the school reduced our lunch from 35 minutes to 30, including time for passing between places. She's late for Trig cause that what's she got right after lunch. I'm late to Soc. Studies.

--Kathy

P.S. My haiku--

We need our lunchtime
So we can gobble down food
And read Rockwood too.

So that's it for week one of Haiku Thursday! This might not succeed, but unless you try new things, you just never know. Or rather...

This might not succeed,
But unless you try new things,
You just never know.

Heh heh...send in your haiku and maybe next week you can achieve poetry fame! See you then!
