Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

August 21, 2008

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one... well, it's not really a haiku, but poetry we like...

Not really haikuish--felt some Dr. Suess inspiration. Hope you like.

Do you like Stars Wars?
Would you like it on a plane?
Would you watch it on a train?
Could you watch it twenty times?
Could you memorize all the lines?
Will you buy it in a boxed set?
Will you recreate it on your deck?
Are you like a total geek
and is there Wookie that you speak?
Do you read all the books?
Do you like the comic books?
Dreams of Jedi do you not enjoy?
Yoda speak do you not employ?
Around George's finger are you not?
When do you think he'll ever stop?

--mikki

Haiku number two sounds like a Phelps Phan...

Michael Phelps has eight
Making ex-swimmers feel good
Go USA Go!

--Jane Rohan

Haiku number three was written before we found out it was a rubber suit...

Bigfoot walks the earth
What a spooky sight is he
Let's make tracks, he's here!

--Rose

But haiku number four gets Haiku of the Week for obvious promotion purposes...

The games in full swing.
Olympic watch follows suit.
Sasquatch goes for gold.

--Sarcasmo
