Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

- Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...
Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)
Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!
- The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.
On with the haikus!
Haiku number one turns an old joke into rhythmical Japanese poetry...
Why did the chicken
cross the road? To get to the
other side! Ha, ha!
--Q
Haiku number two continues the saga of...uh...himself...
So what: I can't count
But I've got a fan club now
I'm the Uber-geek
Enough already!
Flattery goes to the head
Karl's insufferable
--Karl
Haiku number three is the first part of a trilogy...
Star Wars almost out,
"Clones" come in on the sixteenth,
I must wait in line!
Oh, no! No Rockwood
While I wait! What will I do?
Thank God for laptops.
Laptop is off now.
It ran out of all power.
Must get batteries.
But wait! I'm in line!
I cannot move from my place,
Or else it is lost.
No more Rockwood, or
No good place in Star Wars line.
Rock and a Hard Place!
--Chris
Haiku number four strikes back...
It's not true now, but will be when you post it...
One more week, one more
week until Episode II
is out! Yeah! Woo Hoo!
--Jes
Finally, haiku number five completes its path to the dark side by being Haiku of the Week. Although, it is worth asking: If the third stanza is just for us, who were the other two originally written for?
Writing you today
Instead of getting in line?
Hey! Out of my place!
Or else you can try
This alternative haiku
I wrote just for you:
Who reads these things now?
More should spread the Rockwood word.
Too bad there's no pay...
--Karshia Thao
Want to see last week's Haiku Thursday? Go check it out!
Send in your haiku and maybe next week you can achieve poetry fame! See you then!
