Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.
December 5, 2002
The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.
- Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...
Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)
Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!
- The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.
On with the haikus!
Haiku number one has big plans for our future. Big, strange plans...
Hydrophobes Fanclub
wants syndicated Rockwood
and fame for Brian
(Sorry, "money" has too many syllables...)
When you do get syndicated, I think you should make every Thursday's strip a haiku (five syllables in the first panel, seven in the second, etc.) -- see if it catches on.
("Garfield, you're too fat!"
"I resemble that remark!"
"MMMmmm ... Tastes like chicken!")
--karl
Haiku number two has gets punny with Billy Joel...
Hey Comics Pages:
Don't go changin'...; I love them
just the way Hagar!
--grumpy old man
Haiku number three eagerly awaits late February...
Hello Team Rockwood. Love the comic strip to bits and wanted to offer my own small insight into what it offers the struggling mechanical engineer.
Massive trauma here
Esteem sinks ever lower
Engineer Week when?
--Steve Augustyn
Haiku number four's author anxiously awaits the chance to spend more money on the movies...
There's 13 more days
Until Lord of the Rings: The
Two Towers comes out.
Got the ticket in
Advance; came in DVD.
Now to wait in line!
--Shadow
Finally, haiku number five is the Haiku of the Week because we're suckers for rare astronomical events...
Sun and Moon have same
Angular diameter:
Dude! It's an eclipse!
--Roy
