Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

December 19, 2002

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one has a little something for everybody...

My shopping is done
Oh for the serenity
My money is gone

There is no quick fix
The path to knowledge is long
But it is the way

A new day has dawned
There is coffee in my hand
I see the world now

Your hair is just right
Your pheremones are present
Let the women come

--Larry C.

Haiku number two brings to mind the question, do pants get thirsty?

Tall glass of water
Jittery hands moving in
Pants no longer thirst

--Aaahhhh

Why rent the video when haiku number three can get you up to date...

Here's my first ever Haiku contribution. I'm really looking forward to a certain movie this week. I'm writing this before seeing the movie, but after reading the book. I don't give any spoiler not already in the trailers.

Two Towers is out
We've been waiting for a year
I've got my tickets

I get my first chance
At the late show Wednesday night
Then Thursday at Noon

Aragorn, Gimli
And Legolas go after
Merry and Pippin

Frodo and Samwise
Take the One Ring to Mordor
Watch out for Gollum!

Gandalf is alive!
No longer grey, but now white
Surprises his friends

Tolkien really rocks!
Return of the King comes out
December next year.

--Dale

Haiku number four is the Haiku of the Week celebrates the true meaning of the season. That is, buying things for people. And what better to buy than...

Will wants X-mas list.
Buy a Rockwood calendar
On the Internet.

Writing this a little early, but by the time the next Haiku Thursday rolls around I would have already seen this movie twice... :

The Two Towers out.
Only one movie to go.
Let's go Celebrate!

On the subject of
Celebrating, New Year's Eve
Is 12 days away.

--Shadow
