Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

June 5, 2003

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one is... uh...well, honestly, we're not sure...

I will eat Spam too
Domestically Disabled
Notebooks with fun style

My friend got them all
On a neat secret website
She won't tell a soul.

My favorite one,
That fits me to a tee, I
So wish it were true.

Waking in the morn,
I dreamed my desk was clean, so
I too will eat Spam.

Haiku number two's author gets all excited about being able to write poetry...

Two days till Thursday -
excitement is mounting for
the next haiku champ.

It should be me, too,
but I won't spoil the surprise.
Spice of life, you know.

Or another word:
variety? That's the spice.
But I don't cook much. . .

Spices aren't my strength.
And neither are sharp objects.
Or haiku, it seems.

Haiku number three has the patience to wait for late comic strips...

Day late, dollar short.
The strips are just as funny.
I'm just impatient.

Floating down river?
I was floating on the lake,
but I'm not Brian.

If my work is late,
One person is left hanging.
Still, it's worth the wait.

--Sarcasmo

Haiku number four's author needs to calm down jusssst a little bit...

Gates pisses me off
Does he still live today? No?
Thanks to me, no more

--jesse Perry

Finally, haiku number five is Haiku of the Week because even though we don't mind people pointing out errors (they need to be fixed, after all), it's also nice to get someone to stick up for you...

Well, I'm a stickler for perfection as much as the next guy, but this is getting to be too much:

Everyone's searching
to reveal Brian's mistakes!
Where's the love, people?

--Christina
