Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.
July 3, 2003
The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.
- Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...
Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)
Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!
- The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.
On with the haikus!
Haiku number one comments on last week's dearth of haikus...
Only two Haikus.
So little competition.
This is an outrage!
--The Raven's Mirror
Haiku number two attempts to put together its own explanation...
Haiku drought. What gives?
Vacations may be to blame.
Back to work for me.
--Sarcasmo
Haiku number three defends its platform of choice...
I must respond to the latest "Haiku Thursday":
An Apple basher
Wins "Haiku of the Week" nod??
Injustice most foul!!
--David C.
Haiku number four, ironically, allows us to point out that this week we've received twice as many haikus about last week's lack of haikus. We don't write 'em, we just run 'em...
Two crappy haikus
still one Haiku of the Week
c'mon, raise the bar!
--Moxors
Haiku number five gives us good reasons to think about Eliza Dushku. Mmmmm...
This is all about what's been going on with my sister and the TV in the computer room...
Teen movies that stink
Bring It On on USA
Along with others...
Will this ever end?
No! Netflix gave us Clueless!
Sadly, it came scratched :'(
--Ryan Green
Haiku number six should perhaps combine its two themes, shut off one of the G5's nine fans, and toast some marshmallows on that fancy aluminum case...
There was something about a balloon filled with marshmallows that inspired me to write my first Haiku since high school, and that was a loooong time ago.
Marshmallow balloon
Burns in upper atmosphere
Nothing left to toast
Did I get it right?
After looking through the old Haikus, I'm surprised to see nothing on Apple's new Macs. After all, Rockwood uses Macs, right? Didn't the Steve-note inspire anybody else?
Frustration sets in
I need a new Macintosh
August comes too late
Finances grow weak
New macs cost two thousand bucks
How to get G5?
Nevermind for now
Weakness pervades bank account
Keep old PowerMac
Better off waiting
Pay off credit card debt now
Three gig in a year!
I checked many times.
Did I count syllables right?
Please, no red faces.
--yorik
And finally, haiku number seven is Haiku of the Week for knowing the true attraction of those three little girls from the police academy...
Angels Full Throttle
Drew, Cameron, Lucy, Demi
Bikinis galore!
Oh, Can hardly wait
To see all their glorious
minds at work!
--??
