Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

September 4, 2003

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Wish haiku number one's author a happy birthday as she votes for a winner...

First, a political broadcast:

I believe that Skip's candidacy and campaign accurately reflects the seriousness of the political situation of the recall, and gives an appropriate tone to the proceedings.

I fully endorse Skip's campaign for governor. I will be requesting my absentee ballot today!

And now, on to the haiku!

Surfers will unite
Behind Skip's rallying cry,
"Pot in each chicken!"

--Christina (It's my birthday on Thursday, too!)

Haiku number two just misses it. Nothing seems to work twice. Be different and it's a breeze! And although Haiku of the Week doesn't go through the casting couch, we'd like to make it known that Heidi Klum can win every week if she gives Team Rockwood a little *ahem* incentive ...

Kiss up. Don't kiss up.
Send it early - send it late.
Nothing seems to work.

Just one more option.
Who does one sleep with to get
Haiku of the Week?

--Sarcasmo

Haiku number three wins Haiku of the Week for being particularly sneaky in her campaigning tactics...

Skip, not doing well
pollwise? There's one solution:
Vote for me instead.

--California Gal
