Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

October 7, 2004

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one earns a big "Happy Birthday" from Team Rockwood...

Vols lose, Vandy wins.
Preacher says, "The end is near."
Titans' fans agree.

One more thing this week.
My birthday is on Wednesday.
That is all, thank you.

--Sarcasmo

Haiku number two is having a bad week...

Off-topic self-pity Haiku

I just failed a test.
And my girlfriend's purse: stolen
Self-pity for two.

On-topic Haiku

Leaves crunch under-foot.
Just like cool, Terran Autumn.
But who will rake them?

--David Tarbox

Haiku number three just enjoys the season...

In honor of a crisp, cool fall...

Red, yellow, orange.
Serenity in silence.
Fall colors embraced.

--leif

Haiku number four gets Haiku of the Week for staying on topic and sucking up...a winning combination...

I was going to do this for the Mailbag, then I thought I'd try for Haiku of the Week:

So you guys watch Lost?
What excellent taste you have!
It's my favorite.

And because sucking up never hurts:

Ah, fall! Will Mitch win?
Or Al? Find out next Rockwood--
The best strip made yet!

--Elizabeth
