Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

April 13, 2006

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one refers to warmongers, about whom we can only assume means this guy ...

Iran joins cold war
Another chapter begins
Warmongers rejoice.

Sick of war and fear
Will we make it to '09?
Nothing is certain.

"The fault, dear Brutus,
Lies not in our stars

--Tony J. Moyer

Haiku number two seems to be making excuses for not being able to count to five, seven, and five, but we'll let it slide this time...

i was taught that s counts as a syllable, itself.

several shades.
dirty stained glass window.
many colors.

long wraparound porch.
creepily lonely house.
ancient chimneys.

--ashley

Haiku number three needs a morning pick-me-up...

You are ruining
My morning routines with these
Scheduling mishaps.

You and 9 Chickweed
Lane are my alternatives
to Folgers I.V.s.

Or something to that
Effect. Haiku is very
Difficult. I'm tired.

--Donny

Haiku number four hits the nail on the head...

Brian late again
new comic comes who knows when?
my week is now shot.

Is the Team slipping?
Must be tough comic stripping
and video guy.

--Bad Panda

Haiku number five gets Haiku of the Week because we've always wanted our own time zone...

Tuesday is Monday
And Thursday becomes Wednesday
Rockwood Savings Time

--Time Guy
