Express yourself!
Have you always wanted to let Team Rockwood know just what you were thinking? Do you wonder why the panels of the strip are laid out horizontally instead of vertically? Or do you have sensitive documents that will bring down the government? In any case, we want to know! Just fill out your name and e-mail address, then let 'er rip! No question or comment is too bizarre for Team Rockwood to take a stab at, and if we can get enough mail coming in, this page will be updated weekly! (Unlike the old mailbag page, which got updated about four times in two years.)
So consider this an experiment in web interactivity. Or, consider it a way to artificially inflate our hit count. Either way, just write in!

Heh...I got a real chuckle out of that! Thanks! You must have a very short
lead time!
Is it with you if I link to the cartoon?
--Bill Amend
|
|
|
 |
|
For those of you who don't know, Bill Amend is the cartoonist behind Fox Trot, a comic strip that is far, far more successful than Rockwood has ever been. However, we here at Team Rockwood are big Fox Trot fans, and we carefully read all the tiny jokes that Mr. Amend slips in to his strips. After seeing one a few weeks ago that said "Cartoonist Buys Space Station," we couldn't help but welcome him to the neighborhood.Fortunately, he thought it was humorous and linked to us, instead of finding it insulting and having us killed. And make no mistake, a powerful syndicated cartoonist can have you snuffed out just like that. We're just glad we never crossed Charles Schulz!

Brian,
I just found your strip and I wanted to learn about the characters, but it appears that the "who's who" link and the "promote" link are both inactive. I thought that I would let you know in case you weren't aware of it.
I am guessing that the characters are based on Will College and the gang. I guess I will find out when the link is up. I was a big fan of your strip at OU. I thought your "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" series was fantastic. Anyway, keep up the good work and I will wait for the links to get fixed.

Trevor, what do you mean the "Who's Who" link doesn't work? We see it very clearly!
Ha ha...just fooling. In truth, Trevor was the burr in our saddle that finally got us to get the "Who's Who" page done. For months now, we've been planning on making it a multimedia extravaganza, complete with Quicktime movies and a Flash intro page. But then Sportscenter would come on and we'd lose all track of time. Finally, Trevor's little needling got us to realize that something would be better than the nothing that we had up there.
And the "Promote" page will be coming soon, complete with banners that you can stick up on your own web page. Of course, we can't get to that until this Charlie's Angels marathon is over. You understand, I'm sure.

I don't get the "Bootylicious" strip of Monday, 6/11. What group are you talking about? Not that I would know any of them, ut at least give me a hint.
Otherwise, just stick to the funny stuff!

Well, Heinrich, we were kinda hoping that was funny stuff. And believe you me, we've taken plenty of flack for saying that "Bootylicious" by the band Destiny's Child will go down as a cultural turning point for 2001. It seems that some of Rockwood's readers with "intelligence" believe us to be fools. No, no, no, no, no, no... we're prescient! They mock us now, but come October when you hear President Bush describe his latest "bootylicious" tax plan, just remember you heard it here first.

I was turned on to your strip a couple of years ago by a coworker and I enjoy it regularly. Got a question though. Have you ever thought of putting your strip in an email newsletter that is sent out automatically to those who sign up for it?
--Frank Christian

|
We've thought about it, Frank, but ultimately rejected it. With the amount of spam we receive in our mailbox (currently, spam directed at Team Rockwood outnumbers real letters by about 8 to 1), we can't help but think that a well-meaning fan might accidentally throw out a pristine new Rockwood strip with the latest online mortgage offer. The thought of being lumped in with these weasels in any way gives us the heebie-jeebies. Besides, we like it when you come to visit our site. We like to think of it as your little home on the web!
And, of course, the other reason is that we're very lazy, and all of this just sounds like more work for us. That just takes away from our TV watching time, and we can't have that, can we?

Intrigue -- Mystery -- Who Is Evan Chan???
Am loving the mystery....

Ahhh... Joseph has found our online weakness! For those of you who haven't been obsessed with this for the last two months, the new Steven Spielberg movie, A.I., has had a secret web campaign going on since April, with a few dozen web sites filled with Myst-like puzzles. If you haven't looked at any of it yet, we'd recommend you don't start, because it's very addicting, and we're not getting anything done.
Still, for those of you who have been playing, we'll let you in on this little secret... somewhere on our A.I., Jeanine Salla tribute page, we've hidden a little puzzle of our own. So far, no one has found it. Maybe you could be the first!

Why do you only do three strips a week?
Have any Rockwood books out I can buy?
--Liam
|
|
|
 |
|
Liam, we only do three strips a week because that's all The Man will let us write! Okay, that's not true. We only do three strips a week because otherwise we wouldn't have a life. Cartooning, despite the outward appearance of just drawing some simple pictures to some stupid jokes, can actually take up quite a lot of time, especially if you're trying to do it well. Three strips a week is actually a lot of work when you're doing it for nothing.
As for Rockwood books, we do have the 2001 Rockwood Calendar still available, however calendar sales seem to drop off in... say... June. At one point in the past, we had proclaimed that a Rockwood CD-ROM was in the works, but that still hasn't come to pass, either. Maybe we need to get Trevor Smith to hound us into that, too!
