Express yourself!
Have you always wanted to let Team Rockwood know just what you were thinking? Do you wonder why the panels of the strip are laid out horizontally instead of vertically? Or do you have sensitive documents that will bring down the government? In any case, we want to know! Just fill out your name and e-mail address, then let 'er rip! No question or comment is too bizarre for Team Rockwood to take a stab at, and if we can get enough mail coming in, this page will be updated weekly! (Unlike the old mailbag page, which got updated about four times in two years.)
So consider this an experiment in web interactivity. Or, consider it a way to artificially inflate our hit count. Either way, just write in!

In the Olympic Watch you said (scroll down halfway), "American long jumper John Moffitt uses an older technique for jumping. Instead of the "leg-kick" made popular by Carl Lewis, he uses a post-jump method called "soaring." Why do I bring this up? Because the super-slow-mo camera that catches Moffitt when he's soaring is so cool. The camera is on ground level next to the landing pit, so it looks up at the jumpers as they're going by. The first time they showed Moffitt jumping through the air my jaw hit the floor. An extra scoop of ice cream for whoever picked that shot."
Do I get the ice cream if I developed the camera and shot the shot? BTW we also used the camera for track, high jump, pole vault, gymno, and swimming.

Absolutely, Jeff! We place a high value on technical excellence and think it should be rewarded. Look for that scoop of ice cream in the mail real soon. It'll be in the really soggy envelope.

Umm, OK. So I checked back for the final update "tomorrow" and the next day, and the next day. An Olympics watch without a wrap-up? That might take you out of contention for the gold since you didn't stick the landing...

Good thing we didn't have any competition, eh? Yes, the Olympic Watch Wrapup came a couple of days late, mainly due to Brian catching up on his sleep. However, it is up now, in case any of you had given up on checking.

Oh, so now you're chumming the waters? You thrillseeker!

Chum? We prefer to think of it as flame bait, Brian #3. Besides, we've always wondered if that worked.

Hi Brian -
I sent a pointer to the September 3 strip to James Taranto at the online Wall Street Journal, and he used it in his Best of the Web Today (scroll down to "Oh, by the way...") column --

Heeeey! Lookie there! It turns out flame bait does work. Of course, we'd be a little disingenuous if we didn't mention that we had also sent Mr. Taranto a heads-up on the use of his catch phrase. We also self-promoted to Instapundit to get this link. Chumming the waters pays off, kids!

As a Democrat, I wish Kerry would talk more about the issues and less about Vietnam too - but let's be fair here: the Republicans aren't exactly letting him drop it, what with all the swift boat nonsense. Both sides need to focus more on the issues and less on the other side's character than they have, but such is the nature of political "debate" in this country.

We've actually heard plenty about Vietnam from both sides, Robert, whether it's Kerry's swiftboat adventures or Bush's National Guard duty. And here at Team Rockwood, we'd like to send out a message to both camps. We. Don't. Care. Certain members of Team Rockwood are now actually old enough to run for president, and they don't even remember the Vietnam war. What Bush or Kerry did when they were 20 year-olds isn't particularly relevant to us.
However, we do have to disagree with you about the issues-versus-character debate. While we understand that you probably don't agree with our opinion on the war, we think you would admit that it does fit in with Bush's character. How a presidential candidate would handle issues that they've been drilled on for months (or years) in a campaign is one thing. But how a candidate would handle the unknown --like the war, for example-- is all based on character.
We actually disagree with Bush on a bunch of issues. But the character of Kerry is pretty worrisome. He blames others for trivial things (scroll down to Friday, March 19), he simultaneously challenges Bush to bring it on while complaining when he does, and he ignored 20 years of Senatorial service to make a four-month stay in Vietnam the center of his campaign. We know almost nothing about Kerry other than "he's not Bush." Who he's not isn't enough to earn our vote.

I want to compliment you for your stopwatch/Kerry joke. Brilliant!
I'm a frustrated cartoonist -- Saxon in the bathroom, and all that -- so I know what I'm talking about. But beware. I think Kliban was a genius.
Godspeed!

What a missed opportunity! If only we could have worked a cat into that strip we would have been syndicated by now!

Hey Team,
When you make a reference to someone who has linked to you... such as in the Wall Street Journal (Congrats, by the way!), is it possible to make it easier to FIND said link when I go to their page? I spent a very long time searching through the article for any reference to "rockwood", "lundmark", and even "brian" with no luck. I went away for a while, then tried "vietnam" and finally found the link obscurely hidden behind the words "Oh, by the way..."
So, in the future, perhaps you could give us a hint about where to look for you. Pretty please?
Thanks.

James, we liked your suggestion so much that we've been using it for this entire page! Actually, this now marks two weeks in a row (scroll down to the last letter) where reader suggestions have improved the Rockwood site. Thanks!

Another hurricane racking Florida. This time it made me have a 5-day weekend. However, there are still some downsides. I took pics of my house & neighborhood.

Well, other than being pretty messy, that doesn't look too bad. Or at least, not as bad as the pictures on the news. I'm sure the cleanup won't be fun, but at least your house is still there. Hopefully, this thing near South America isn't coming your way, too.
You know, maybe you should just move to the midwest. Things are much calmer here.
