March 13, 2006,

To clarify my letter last week...

The Neverending Story is excellent. A lot of similar elements/characters/situations but different from the book by Michael Ende (who gets writing credits but was unhappy with the final film). The book is a great read and the movie is a wonderful fanciful tale for the family to enjoy. I would highly recommend both the book and movie to folks who like the fantasy genre and/or if one has children.

The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter is cheese-tastick. Really only bearable if one is a huge Jonathan Brandis fan (which I am) or one does an MST3K treatment on the film (my brother's good at it).

Now, whoever had the idea for The Neverending Story III should be taken out back into the parking lot, away from the security cameras and beaten with a stick. There is NOTHING familar from the first two movies or the book in the third film. The analogy that comes to mind is a vacuum, perhaps a Dyson. This movies totally sucks.

Can't say anything about the cartoon TV series... never got to see it. And it was only released in Sweden and Germany.

--Mikki

P.S. Ever notice how hostile things sound in German? A friend of mine lived in Germany for a while and every time he says something in German I think he sounds angry...

Ach du lieber! Ihr Manuskript ist unendliche!

You're right, Mikki. That does sound hostile! But that doesn't really mean anything. After all, no one who speaks German could be an evil man
