Christina got it... and you're right... it should have been "p_your_ut"...

I'm

That's understandable, James. Sometimes...

We're | ourselves

"Big" news coming next week (or this week I should say) and not BIG news? If it isn't BIG news, then it must not be THAT important.

Big news is "Honey, I got a raise of $.25 a week" compared to BIG news "Honey! My boss got canned for embezzlement and I got his job with an extra zero in my paycheck!! I was so excited about the pay raise I threw up all over the carpet!!! Uh, we have a carpet cleaning bill coming, by the way."

Or, another example of big vs BIG news is:

big: "Honey, I'm pregnant" BIG: "Honey, I'm pregnant, and you aren't the father. Your dad is the father."

big: "Mom...dad...I dented the fender on the car" vs. BIG "Mom, I totalled the car after running over Dad while he sat in his recliner in the living room. The good news is I'm okay, the bad news is he isn't. Uh, we have a carpet cleaning bill coming, by the way."

So, was the news you gave big or BIG? Only time will tell...

August 12, 2006,

Is the big news that you got married????

--Kegan Baird

Hmmm... that WOULD be big, wouldn't it? Heh.

August 14, 2006,

Congratulations! You make a beautiful couple, and I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures!

(Yeah, everyone's going to ask to see them. Best get used to it now!)

August 14, 2006,

Update to my previous email. Congratulations on getting married! Yes, I guess that qualifies as the big news category. here is how you could have changed it, though, to qualify as BIG: big: "Mom, I'm marrying SoonergirlCPA. She has all the qualities that I'm looking for in a woman...plus, she can help me at tax time. I'm sure she'll only charge you a minimum fee."

BIG: "Mom, I'm marrying ironchefoklahoma. He has all the qualities that I'm looking for in a man...plus, he can set up a secure wireless connection and subnet my network! And we both LOOOOVE karaoke!"

Hope the wedding was AWESOME!!!

August 14, 2006,

Congratulations! I was also thrilled to see your new bride is also a Sooner fan. Well, at least, she was wearing an Oklahoma cap in some of the pics. Mine (we got married June 16th) is a Colorado native, and I'm working on training her to the Sooner way. :-)

Speaking of the Sooners, how do you think our boys will do this year, now that Thompson's been given the reigns again?

Again, congrats and best wishes. Oh, and Boomer Sooner!

Sincerely,

--Chris Mallow

August 15, 2006,

Congrats!! I had a feeling about you two from back at John's wedding.

August 15, 2006,

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Best wishes and the best of luck. After 20 years of marriage, the best advice I've heard (or given) is: marriage is NOT fifty-fifty... it takes 100% effort on both sides, not half! :)

I'm happy for you and your lovely better half. Oh, another secret: the magic words are really "yes dear!" ;)

--Spike

Yes, the membership of Team Rockwood has increased by one, and we'd both like to thank all of you for your kind words and good advice. We'll be heeding at least some of it.

Oh, and everyone at the new-and-improved Team Rockwood thinks Paul Thompson is going to kick butt this year!

August 19, 2006,

Great cartoons Brian! Thanks for letting us bloggers publish it as well. It fits in real nice!

August 21, 2006,

Where's the video from the reception? You know what I'm talking about...

--Jay

Some of you might think that a cartoonist's wedding reception would be boring. You would be oh-so-wrong. No, a cartoonist's wedding reception is awesome! Go vote if you agree.

August 23, 2006,

Congrats! So when can we expect the first "little rockwoodien"? Anyway congrats again on your union.

--Rookee Alding

Wow. What was that? All of five minutes?

August 30, 2006,

Where's the updates?

--Rose

We'll admit it, Rose. Getting married, having a honeymoon, and merging two households took us a little more time than we thought it would (and will still take more time). But we're trying to get back on a regular schedule. It's not like we're As The Apple Turns here.

September 1, 2006,

Great job! Keep up the good work! Seriously, you are the only funny comic left!

--Cip

What?! We were only gone for three weeks! Was there some kind of cartoonist genocide while we were gone? Good thing we were on the beach soaking up the rays!

September 1, 2006,

Hope the wedding pictures will be up soon. Congrats!

--James

Hmm... looks like Christina was right!

September 4, 2006,

Excellent. I just watched the video on Brian's website with the Thriller dance. Ah, what a way to start my day... coffee... croissant... and the new, updated Team Rockwood dancing to an 80's hit by an unprosecuted pedophile.

It looks in the end that the Groom gets his foot on his new Bride's wedding dress. If my wife saw me step on her wedding dress, then the line would be true:

"Darkness fall across the land. The midnight hour is close at hand. Creatures crawl in search of blood (mine, in this instance.) To terrorize y'all's neighbourhood."

This video NEEDS to be put into the outrageous and contagious viral video vault.

September 4, 2006,

Well, it's better than the Chicken Dance! ;)

Seriously, though, congrats on your nuptials. I hope you have many happy years together.

--Chris

The sad thing is we didn't even do the Chicken Dance at our wedding, Chris. But we think we made up for it by getting the whole wedding party in on the Thriller dance. Seriously, head on over to YouTube and vote for us if you think it turned out well. And really, how could you not think that?
