September 19, 2006,

As always, I enjoyed your talk like a pirate week strips.

To get her ready for "talk like a pirate" day yesterday, I tried to teach my one year old daughter to talk like a pirate.

I kept saying "arrrrr" at her and she'd repeat back "raaaaah." If someone will just invent "talk like a bear" day, she's all set!

I tried a little more today, so she could celebrate the actual event, and got her as far as "aaaaaaaa" - that is pretty close. Unfortunately, she also ran away from me. So in addition to being "talk like a pirate" day, apparently today is "be scared of a pirate" day.

Or maybe that is just her normal reaction to me, I am not sure.

Oh well. Enjoy the rest of your talk like a pirate day!

Arr... the lass is a wee one, yet. She be havin' plenty o' time to be learnin' about the pirate ways.

In the meantime, remind her that although it be just fine to be talkin' like a bear, she doesn't actually want to talk to a bear. Talkin' to bears is for scalawags with a few loose screws.

September 24, 2006,

Brian,

I don't normally go anywhere on the site besides checking the latest strip (and any I have missed) but I checked out the mailbag and followed the link to your wedding pictures.

First of all, congratulations! My 12th anniversary will be in April, followed by the birth of child #3. I don't think of myself as being old but maybe it's time to face facts.... regardless, I hope that you and your bride have many years of happiness together. From reading Rockwood, I know that you've got the prerequisite sense of humor.

Second, the "Thriller dance" was PRICELESS! I had to bite my lip from laughing out loud (my lovely wife and kids #1 and #2 are asleep now). We had nothing that cool at our wedding. I don't know how long you had to rehearse it, but the result was fantastic.

Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the 2007 calendar.

Take care, and congratulations again.

You too can learn how to move like MJ at Brian's House Of Dance! Okay, we're not opening up a studio, but as some have theorized, Brian did have to figure out the choreography after a certain bride-to-be watched 13 Going On 30 one too many times with her friends.

As for the length of practice time, a good dancer never reveals his tricks. However, since we're clearly not good dancers, it took four rehearsals, plus everyone in the wedding party got a DVD with the dance slowed down to half speed so we could actually see what Michael was doing. You know, he may be crazy, but that boy can DANCE!

September 25, 2006,

ROFL!!! They do make bad comedians... but they make very funny blunders or speeches at the UN.

And isn't it nice to see half the crowd at the U.N. encouraging him? Of course, two-bit dictators aren't the only people happy to see Chavez go wacky. There are agendas all around.
