February 15, 2010,
I actually did read your commentary about
the 2010
Olympics and found this amusing:
"Iceland
has never won a gold medal in the winter Olympics. That's because
adding consonants to your name is not a sport."
Was that your quote or a commentator?

The first part was from Bob Costas, Leif,
but the consonants quip was 100 percent Rockwoodcomic snarkery! But
just in case you're curious, you can check out some Icelandic names here!

February 15, 2010,
I love your Olympic coverage, I would
have to admit that NBC (who's a falling network) is doing a better
job then they did in the past.
The 'How
to Train Your Dragon' promos is an ad, despite they segue in
to it. It would be fluff if they did a graphic before the fluff like
the Chevy
Moments of past Olympics. But its not a seconds worth of graphic
with Bob or someone saying, "this fluff has been brought to
you by..." Its a complete tape time waster, but they have to
pay the bills somehow.
Side note: I have noticed that the Winter
has 15 events compared to Summer's horde of events and yet NBC has
only shown one medal ceremony. I'm wonder if they'll show Alexandre
Bilodeau medal Ceremony tonight (Monday) and award ceremony is only
delayed by a day for testing and venue change.

Lore, our guess is that Bilodeau will get
his medal on Monday night just like you said (note: we wrote this
before watching Monday night's coverage, which included Bilodeau getting
his medal). Starting with the Salt Lake City games in 2002, the
local Olympic committees seemed to think it would be more interesting
to make the medal presentations an event, so they moved them off of
the event site to a special medal presentation venue.
In our judgement, this is a mistake. Team
Rockwood has been to both a Summer Games (Atlanta) and a
Winter Games (Salt Lake) and from experience we can tell you that
it's much cooler to see the medals awarded immediately. The fans
who show up at the events themselves are usually fans of that event
and truly appreciate what the winning athlete has accomplished. Also,
they are the ones who are supporting that event. And although they
made plans to be at that one location, they might be unable to make
plans to see the medal presentations. It seems counter-intuitive
to us to actively alienate your strongest supporters, and that's
what a policy like this does.
On the other hand, if you move the medal
presentation to another location, you can have your music
provided by Creed. We'll leave it to you to decide whether that's
a good thing or not.
