Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

January 9, 2002

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one gets caught Jaywalking...

OU on Leno,
Makes jokes on dumb linebackers.
Go Oklahoma!

--AlphaDeltaEpsilon#196

Haiku number two should remind both Brits and Wazzu fans that life isn't fair...

There's snow in London.
Brian in Pasadena.
Life just isn't fair.

Was the weather good?
Hope you enjoyed my home town
And OU's triumph.

--Christina (the little old lady from Pasadena, only not little and not old!)

Haiku number three missed us...

Yes, yes, I admit it. I start of each workday with you. Seems to make the day a little more tolerable. So here's your Haiku.

The daylight is short
You have been missed as of late
We wish that you're well

And for all those bowl games,

Your mission is clear
You must score the winning goal
Go do what you must

--Larry C.

Haiku number four reveals disappointing moments for some, but possible relief for others...

Still trying to cope with first loss since 2000.

Judgement call decides
National Championship.
Emptiness inside.

Why not let them play
one more quarter of real game?
Overtime is dumb.

--Peter Krug

Of course, haiku number five shows there were fans on both sides of the ball...

Back from vacation.
Went to North Carolina.
Watched National Champs.

Ohio State Won.
The 'Canes humiliated.
Hooray for Buckeyes!

--Shadow

Haiku number six documents how Farve the Pack has fallen...

Two thousand three stinks
The Packers fall like the snow
Rockwood heals all wounds

--csljr

Haiku number seven is the Haiku of the Week for being an epic celebrating and epic...

In honor of Tolkien,

The Lord of the Rings,
One gold ring to rule them all,
The Dark Lord Returns,

Fellowship broken,
Boromir is slain. Arrows,
Really, really hurt.

Pippin and Mary,
Taken but meet with Treebeard,
A huge man tree thing.

Sam, Frodo, Gollum,
Approach Mordor from the north,
Enter at great risk.

Dwarf, Elf, Aragorn,
Run to the Plains of Rohann.
In search of hobbits...

And Gandalf the White,
Returns from the deep caverns,
Ever vigilant.

Name drop for Rockwood,
A big fan of this movie,
And the Nemesis,

I won't see movie,
Till next week, no stadium
Seating in SD. :-(

--Leif
