- Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...
Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)
Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!
- The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.
On with the haikus!
Haiku number one should be reminded...MTV hasn't looked good in years...
Too much going on
out in the world, MTV
starting to look good
Spring break is over.
But it doesn't feel like spring
until its over.
--James
Haiku number two's author obviously isn't in a pool...
The art of zen is
not betting hard earned money
with other people.
(only bet with others if they have terrible memories. And make sure they think they haven't paid you everything because then they'll buy you everything from movie tickets to food. Who needs a job? Not me.)
--Elizabeth
But we're guessing haiku number three's author probably IS in a pool...
NCAA games
Keeping up with basketball?
Free chips, anyway.
--William
And haiku number four earns Haiku of the Week for writing down our schedule...
Monday brings to us-
A strip after two long days.
Weekend Updates? None.
Tuesday is Mail day.
We talk about War and Moore.
Less Moore, more Bush please.
Wednesday? A new strip
Makes Hump Day more bearable.
Haikus tomorrow.
Thursday? The best day.
Zen poets vie for honors.
Haiku of the Week.
Friday? One last strip.
Almost wish Monday was here.
Almost, but not quite.
