Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

May 15, 2003

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one proves that we obviously haven't seen the commercial, because we don't get it...

Neo is the One,
Must save Zion from defeat.
Movie out today!

The next one will be
Out in just six months. Unlike
The Lord of the Rings.

This last one you will only get if you have seen the commercials in the theater...

Buy tickets online.
Saves waiting in line. I think
The "r" is silent.

--The Raven's Mirror

We're not quite sure how haiku number two is related to Apple, but everyone has their inspiration...

I drew my inspiration straight from my G4/400 running OS 10.1.5 (on its third year and still pretty un-shabby)

The Rockwood Mailbag
lite, airy, without substance
like yummy popcorn

--Conor

Haiku number three may require some assistance...

Couldn't find Ur, unfortunately. But here's the next best thing!

Well, you asked for it.
Here's a haiku in Klingon.
I hope you're happy.

Haiku Daq tlhlngan?
vam wa' 'oH vaD SoH, Brian.
ta' SoH Hoch rur 'oH.

How about Japanese next? :)

--Christina

Haiku number four ponders while watching the skies...

Three hundred 'leven
tornados dropped down last week.
Set a new record.

One I hate to see.
It always makes me feel sad
to see destruction.

The entire mid-west
has something to talk about,
to tell their grandkids.

Hope nothing happens
that we see a week like this
come again real soon.

--Larry C.

Haiku number five continues on a weather-based theme...

Tornadoes are HOT
All over the place it seems.
Nashville got some too.

--Sarcasmo

Haiku number six blends weather with the movies...

Escape tornado
Discover reality
Just take the red pill...

--Elizabeth

But haiku number seven gets Haiku of the Week because we had to go the same way...

You are not the only one who had an eventful drive home last Thursday. I have essentially the same commute, except I left after the storm hit. I got home at 10:30 PM that night. :-(

Trapped in OKC!
Moore roads were impassable!
Home - through Newcastle...

-- The Jedi
