- Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...
Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)
Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!
- The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.
On with the haikus!
Haiku number one takes the red pill. That's the one filled with sarcasm...
Have not seen Matrix
But I did buy a new Truck.
The 'r'? Not silent.
--Sarcasmo
Haiku number two, fortunately, thinks we're better than really bad things...
Rockwood, terrorists,
tornadoes generally
unpredictable.
Humor happens to
be the best of all of them!
Keep up the good work.
--Alyce
Haiku number three just reminds us that we happened to be in a state where it was cloudy when last week's eclipse came through...
The Moon will get dark
The Earth, always in the way.
The sky reappears.
--Larry C.
To be honest, the reasoning behind haiku number four is probably the most convoluted and unconvincing thing we've ever seen. However, just because of the effort that was required to make up such a compilation of jibberish we're going to award it Haiku of the Week. Really, how could we not?
You may ask yourself: what? or perhaps, why? A Haiku that is also a palindrome?? but some things should probably be cleared up first. "Sum" is used in place of "some". MF is a two-syllable acronym for Motha' F-er, if you get my drift. Also, "Muse" is a reference to a shortening of a last name into a nickname, (like Musekamp, not that I know any?) as for "lots FM must"--this is code speak from sender of message to the so-called "Muse." Finally, "sho'" is a simple shortening of "sure". As for "s__t," this is a common 4-5-letter word, depending on the intensity of what you are saying ("shoot," as opposed to?well, "s__t").
Oh S__t! Sum MF
stole sum?yeh? wow, WOW?Hey Muse:
"lots FM must", sho'?
--Lombardo
