Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

June 22, 2006

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one celebrates summer and other reader's submissions...

The letter from Bad Panda with assistance from Wild Thing gets my vote for Mailbag of the month. Here's my Haiku:

Mailbag is Cranky
And Haikus Non-Existant
Where is Everyone?

Ha Ha, Vacation!
Summer is Finally HERE!
Weather Warm and Clear!

--Beach Blanket Bingo Dude

Haiku number two seems to be ready for autumn...

Humidity sucks.
Rain not even refreshing
It is just too hot.

That is what I get
For living in Michigan
Too many Great Lakes

At least for right now
It is in the seventies
No need for AC

I just can not wait
For hundred degree August
Darn greenhouse gases

It's getting hotter
Never mind controversy
Heat man-made or not

One hundred degrees
Is still too freaking hot out
Arctic, here I come

--Greg

Haiku number three warns us to protect ourselves...

It's summertime Ah.
Good times and the warm weather
Don't forget sun screen

--Jane Rohan

Haiku number four gets Haiku of the Week for coming up with the most likely reason for our small amount of audience participation...

Low haiku turnout
Perhaps we are all outside
Enjoying summer.

--Mikki
