Express yourself!
Have you always wanted to let Team Rockwood know just what you were thinking? Do you wonder why the panels of the strip are laid out horizontally instead of vertically? Or do you have sensitive documents that will bring down the government? In any case, we want to know! Just fill out your name and e-mail address, then let 'er rip! No question or comment is too bizarre for Team Rockwood to take a stab at, and if we can get enough mail coming in, this page will be updated weekly! (Unlike the old mailbag page, which got updated about four times in two years.)
So consider this an experiment in web interactivity. Or, consider it a way to artificially inflate our hit count. Either way, just write in!

Another storyline? Oh, do tell! Please?

Sorry, TRM, but the alternate storyline we mentioned was about the continued absence of As the Apple Turns' Jack Miller. As such, it wouldn't really make a whole lot of sense to continue with it, since he's reappeared.
Now, for those of you in the future who would otherwise wonder what the next five letters were about...
IDIOT CARTOONIST IGNORES WARNINGS, TEMPTS DEATH!
For those of you who don't know, I live in Norman, Oklahoma, which is a suburb of Oklahoma City, the town where I work. And, if you haven't read the news yet, we had a bit of bad weather yesterday.
I find that a lot of people outside the Midwest wonder "how can you live in a place that has tornadoes?" Well, to be honest, I've been here all of my life and never seen one. In fact, once you've been here this long you start to become complacent about it all. Surrrre, you hear Gary England rattling on again about how a tornado is coming, but he does this dozens of times a year--hundreds of times in your life--and you haven't been hit yet. Why would this time be any different?
So when I heard Gary yesterday, I summed up my chances of making it home as no less likely than usual. After all, it's a pretty straight shot down the freeway, and this twister he was talking about was waaaaay outside the city. No need to worry there, right? Heh.
Observe the route of my foolishness...

...special thanks to NewsOK.com, whose unaltered map is behind that link.
Anyway, it should be obvious that I got a lot closer to ending up in the Land of Oz than I thought I would. I wasn't close enough that the winds were actually knocking me around, but I was close enough that I was looking for ditches, just in case.
However, despite being that close, I still haven't actually seen a tornado. I'd still like to someday, just not on my way home from work.

May 9, 2003,
Glad you made it home safely! Driving through South-Western Indiana, I had the pleasure of watching a tornado form. The sky turned green and the clouds began to swirl and reach for the ground. It was really amazing and kind of frightening. Luckily, I repel tornados, so it jumped over the police depot we stopped at just in case it decided to hit. Anyway, thanks for the cartoons and keep up the good work! Take care and don't go chasing any more tornadoes!

Us chasing them? They were chasing us, KJT! If we were chasing them, we'd pick a safer way.

May 9, 2003,
So where would you rather be during a tornado? Your car or your house? I've seen pictures of brick houses that couldn't survive a tornado. But I guess a brick house is safer than the "manufactured home" I live in, but I quess not living in a tornado prone state (SC) helps too. We got 2 of the what was it 150-some tornados that storm dished out. Not that I'm complaining.

Definitely the house, rookee. Although buildings can suffer just as much damage, the cars always get thrashed. The fact is that cars are very dangerous in a wind storm and offer almost no protection, no matter how big they are. By comparison, even a totalled house will usually have enough structure left to have provided some kind of protection. Or, if the homeowner was really smart, it will have protection built in.

May 9, 2003,
Glad to hear you made it home safe in spite of the tornado ... it definitely was a close call! I would hate for something to happen to you ... I really would miss my weekly fix of Rockwood! *grin*
And if it's any consolation ... I lived in Norman most of my life and never saw a tornado!

Well, Kari, that's because here in Norman, we don't actually have tornadoes, we just tell everyone else they're coming.

May 9, 2003,
Read about your near-wind experience. Although I'm glad you didn't see a tornado from your car, I'm not sure seeing it out your kitchen window would be an improvement! On the whole, seeing it on a television screen strikes me as far, far, preferable, and vastly more comfortable. Glad you weren't hurt.

You're absolutely right, Chris. Just don't see it in a movie theater. At least, not unless you have a high tolerance for bad scriptwriting.

"IDIOT CARTOONIST IGNORES WARNINGS, TEMPTS DEATH!"
....should read:
"IDIOT CARTOONIST IGNORES WARNINGS (along with the rest of OKC residents,) TEMPTS DEATH!"
I know what you mean - it's the old cry wolf syndrome (or should it be renamed the Gary England syndrome?) I actually got nervous on Friday night when Rick Mitchell (KOCO Channel 5) started to freak out... so, I just *HAD* to go outside and take a look like any other warm blooded OKC resident ;)
Glad to hear you're OK!

Weird, isn't it? You just get used to all the hoopla after a while. Do people in earthquake or hurricane zones get this complacent? Here at Team Rockwood, we're relieved that a tornado never has come through town since we've been here, because we'd probably just tune out the weatherman on TV and end up getting sucked into the air. Who knows what would happen then?

May 12, 2003,
You mentioned last week that you had an alternate storyline that you were going to use. I hope we see it sometime in the future! Also, I was wondering if you have any of your past work online. I saw the star trek clip and a few others but I cant seem to find a link to the rest. About a month ago you showed us a clip that explained why Skip is always smiling. It was hilarious! I hope to see more!

Well, Nate, you sound like you want the comprehensive Rockwood CD-ROM which is due out...uh... well, don't hold your breath. The CD-ROM was one of those things that we thought would be cool until we realized just how much work it was. We suppose that someday there might be some generous soul out there that would give us a bag of money to actually finish it, but until then, you'll probably just have to be content with the cartoons we already have online. Sorry!
