Express yourself!
Have you always wanted to let Team Rockwood know just what you were thinking? Do you wonder why the panels of the strip are laid out horizontally instead of vertically? Or do you have sensitive documents that will bring down the government? In any case, we want to know! Just fill out your name and e-mail address, then let 'er rip! No question or comment is too bizarre for Team Rockwood to take a stab at, and if we can get enough mail coming in, this page will be updated weekly! (Unlike the old mailbag page, which got updated about four times in two years.)
So consider this an experiment in web interactivity. Or, consider it a way to artificially inflate our hit count. Either way, just write in!

I think the Groundhog Day displays should be up every day. Forever.

You don't need a spell checker to check for date accuracy... you need a fact checker!
It's a fact that MLKing, Jr. Day is in January, not April (second letter)... those are the things that a fact checker checks!

Very true, James. We'll just have to make sure that our crack staff here at Team Rockwood double checks all of the dates on the upcoming 2006 Rockwood Calendar before it goes out.

Hey Rockwood,
Where's the haikus? The last few weeks the entries have waned compared to the past. Haikus are easy and fun, people. Let's hear some new ones.
And a reaction to Doug's problem with "Solar Systems" (first letter). I'm sorry, but as a species our languages becomes weaker and more bastardized every day. I feel your frustration. Blame it on the media, and low standards of education.

Well said, Tony! If you're reading this page, it's obvious you like the interactive parts of the Rockwood site. However, without input from people just like yourself, neither the Rockwood Mailbag nor Haiku Thursday could exist. So, help us out, won't you? Take a few minutes of time out of your busy day and drop us a line!

December 10, 2005,
We have two stations that play nothing but Christmas music. They must have a lot because they actually have a time when you can call in a request songs. They keep saying if they have it they will play it. I've already heard both Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Muppets Christmas. So they may be right. But why would you request Christmas music?

Oh Rookee, are you dissing Christmas music? If so, we might suggest that you request some Christmas tunes so that your small heart might grow three sizes today!
But yes, there is some pretty awful Christmas music out there. However, here at Team Rockwood, we have long since abandoned any musical taste regarding it. We even like Wonderful Christmastime, so you know there's no help for us.

Brian-
Like Doug last week, I am going to rant. Is it just me or are a LOT of the movies this year been remakes, adaptations from another media (Broadway play, TV show or book) or sequels? Has Hollywood run out of original ideas? How about a movie about a group of people in a space ship that orbits around the earth? Oops! That would be an adaptation and not original (but at least entertaining:)).
Am anxiously awaiting the new Rockwood calendar.

Unfortunately, Jane, since there are only seven plots it's inevitable that they will get recycled.
However, it's not like this is a new phenomenon. The Wizard of Oz everyone loves from 1939 had been made twice before, in both 1925 and 1921, and all three stories were based on an L. Frank Baum book from 1900.
The biggest difference is our times. Less than 25 years ago, before VHS, movies like The Wizard of Oz were a once a year event at most, and any lesser movies would likely never be seen again once they were out of the theaters. They were easily forgotten.
By comparison, you can now --in the next hour-- easily download the first season of Knight Rider onto your computer using iTunes. Whereas before it used to be hard to remember such shows, now it's impossible to avoid them. In an age of media saturation, it's hard to come up with something original, because everyone has access to the same seven plots, but now they also have a 90-year catalog with which to cross-reference them.

December 12, 2005,
Okay, I can be as festive as the next guy...but some things about the holidays I just don't get. For instance, why is Will Rockwood's face still a pumpkin? What exactly do pumpkins have to do with Christmas? Is it a Hanukkah thing?
Oh, and Doug's comment about the "proper" name for the star that is central in our solar system is Sol is an opinion. The Greeks called it Helios before Rome existed. As the "proper" name would be one that was given earlier, Helios would be the more proper name for our sun. I'm not sure what the Babylonians called it, which would be even more "proper" than the Greeks' Helios. Go back even further...
Ah, History 101 floods the memory and is just as quickly forgotten.

We think you need to check your computer, Panda, because the pumpkin-head-Will graphic hasn't been online for over a month.
As for this star you talk about, our jobs keep us inside a windowless room all day. We refer to it as "that light in the big blue room."
