January 15, 2009,
Brian,
How are you FEELING? Do you feel good....about
this economy, and the Sugar Bowl loss?lol
I feel like you are Al Vanguard and i
am Mitch in the latest
strip and you are Al in that latest comic strip story. It has been
hard for you this last year. You are against idealologies. You are
against change. You may be conservative on most issues but you are
liberal elsewhere. So am I. But I am optimistic for the future.
Obama has increased my confidence because
I believe now that anything is possible now. I've seen a Black male
take on the highest office in the land. So I am overachieving now in
my life by going to school again and bettering myself. Transformation
starts with the individual. Let's all support Obama. If he fails, fine,
but if he succeeds, even better.
Brian, I love you and your dancing is
awesome, even though I don't agree with you all the time/hee hee.
And stop making excuses that Utah
is #1.....Florida is #1
Let's move forward.
I will support you always and forever....thank
you so much for signing
my calendar.....I LOVE IT!!!! ;)

Why would we be concerned about the Sugar Bowl loss, Sears? Well, other
than the fact that Alabama losing just confirms that Utah
should have been number one?
Saying you're "for change" is
like saying you're "for temperature". It's a meaningless
phrase. Either could be positive or negative. Our beef with Obama isn't
his call for change. Rather, it's his unwillingness to define which
change he wants.
And we're glad you're bettering yourself.
However, unless Barack himself is standing over your shoulder prodding
you, he really has nothing to do with it. In fact, Sears, your improvements
are entirely of your own making. You are the one who decided
to go back to school. You are the one doing the studying. You are
the one who will reap the benefits. All of these abilities were within
you all along.
We're thrilled for you that you're making
this progress, but we're not going to credit Obama for it. We'll give
Obama credit when credit is due, but remember, his current presidential
accomplishments are exactly the same as ours: zero. Unlike you, we
don't think it's fine if he fails, but for the sake of the country,
we hope he does well.

January 16, 2009,
Ah, Ricardo
Montalban. He was great in everything he did, and I can't even
say his name without doing it with his engaging accent.
We'll always have the Island...

His speaking accent was great, Tony, but have you ever heard him sing and dance?
He was a triple threat!

January 18, 2009,
Will each Rockwood Thursday
Haiku begin with:
" Black is the Color"?
Or..
will it be:
" What happened to White?"
Maybe Rockwood could
comic an early Monday Inaugural Haiku.

We don't write 'em, Me, we just judge 'em. Who knows what people will write
in this week? Just remember, haikus still use the 5-7-5 syllable
format. There can be no "change" in that!

January 18, 2009,
Glad to see you didn't make any references
to Fantasy
Island - I heard he hated those especially "da
plane!" which wasn't even his line.

We hadn't heard that, Spike. In fact, he seems to have some affection for
it in this
interview. However, we don't know that for sure. But in the meantime,
did you know that his was the first popular version of "Baby,
It's Cold Outside"? You can watch the master at work here.
